The SunTrust Foundation presented a $25,000 grant to the Foundation for Community Driven Innovation (FCDI) to support the Make Your Future program. The program engages young people ages 16 and up to explore science, technology, engineering, manufacturing and related education and career skill building opportunities using the resources at FCDI’s Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics Center (AMRoC) Fab Lab, based at University Mall in Tampa.

“FCDI is very grateful to the SunTrust Foundation for helping us carry out our mission of community capacity building in the University Area and empowering youth through robust project-based engineering education and training,” said FCDI Executive Director Terri Willingham.

“On behalf of the SunTrust Foundation, we are pleased to partner with FCDI to support hands-on science and technology learning in Tampa Bay,” said Tim Schar, SunTrust Bank Tampa Bay market president. “FCDI is inspiring youth early on to consider demanding careers that will help ensure their future financial confidence.”

About FCDI
The Foundation for Community Driven Innovation (FCDI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting academic achievement, economic development and the spirit of innovation in people of all ages. We do this by facilitating fiscal sponsorship for youth robotics teams, and by supporting exciting hands on learning and living events like Gulf Coast MakerCon, Tampa Bay’s annual maker festival, and ROBOTICON Tampa Bay, an annual youth robotics showcase event. FCDI is also the founder of Tampa Bay’s only public Fab Lab, the Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics Center (AMRoC) at University Mall. Visit FFCDI.org for more information.
