The Foundation for Community Driven Innovation is happy to welcome Mr. Michael Smith-Mapp to our 2019 Board of Directors.
Michael is an Independent Consultant and Boeing Retiree who is a certified machinist with 33 years of manufacturing and military experience. He is an adviser and mentor to efforts that espouse everything technology. Michael first became involved with FIRST programs in 2006 as a FIRST ambassador for international teams while working for the Boeing Company. He continues his contributions and strong support through FCDI and Diversity initiatives.
He has been a key part of the development of FCDI’s Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics Center (AMRoC) Fab Lab, generously contributing time, expertise and resources. He’s also been front and center helping mentor teams, especially FIRST Tech Challenge Team 2845, Team Duct Tape, accompanying the team to the FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship in Jacksonville, and helping guide the team in their engineering build, and inspiring team members to be the best that they can be.
We’re grateful for Michael’s interest and commitment to FCDI mission and goals, and for the experience and insights he brings to FCDI as we expand our programming and our community empowerment footprint in Tampa through the development of AMRoC Fab Lab.
