For the 4th year in a row, FCDI teams up with SOFWERX to host the Tampa Bay FIRST Robotics Competition Live Kick-off event. The 2020 season game is called “Infinite Recharge“, and this year FIRST Robotics Competition teams have an open build season from the time of kick off to their first competition, usually in March, to build a robot, weighing up to 120 lbs, to compete in this Star Wars themed challenge.

Live Kick-Off events provide a fun, exciting and cost saving way to launch the new season, with kits shipped free of cost to a single location for teams to pick up, and a camaraderie building worldwide simulcast kick off event for participating teams to enjoy together.

Additionally, thanks to the generosity of SOFWERX, teams that participate in the live Tampa Kick Off meet the first eligibility requirement for an up to $1000 grant from SOFWERX.  The 2nd requirement is to return for a pre-competition robot review with SOFWERX engineers – a win-win-win!

But wait! There’s more: Teams attending the Tampa Bay Live Kick-Off event will also receive 1 full day of practice time on the  AMRoC Fab Lab FIRST Robotics Competition field, with machine shop access – a $200 value – and will be invited back for a scrimmage opportunity prior to the first Florida Regional Competition of the season.

So register to attend the Tampa Bay Kick Off via your team account at, starting October 10, 2019.  More information about the Infinite Recharge Kick Off can be found here  on the FIRST website.
